Welcome to the Michigan State University Twin Registry (MSUTR)!
|
What is the Michigan State University Twin Registry? The primary aim of the Michigan State University Twin
Registry (MSUTR) is to examine developmental differences in genetic,
environmental, and neurobiological influences on internalizing (e.g.,
depression) and
externalizing (e.g., acting out behaviors) symptoms.
Twin participants span several developmental stages (i.e., childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood). The registry takes a lifespan perspective by assessing twins during all of these developmental stages. The lifespan perspective ensures that genetic, environmental, and biological risk factors specific to particular developmental periods are identified and examined for their relevance to internalized and externalized behaviors. In sum, the MSUTR research will allow for better understanding of the environmental, genetic and neurobiological factors that influence psychological functioning and behavior. Our research will aid in the identification of the origins of internalizing and externalizing symptoms, ultimately informing treatment and prevention efforts. |
